Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 inch (2.54 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, the stone block house of El Caney, Cuba, Argent, before a royal palm Proper. Attached below the shield a Gold Scroll inscribed "ONWARD" in Blue letters.

Symbolism
The shield is blue for Infantry. The gallant service in Cuba is represented by the blockhouse at El Caney and the royal palm from the coat of arms of that Republic.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 25th Infantry Regiment on 25 November 1922. It was amended to change the description on 16 March 1923. The insignia was redesignated for the 25th Armored Infantry Battalion on 11 May 1951.

From a wreath of the colors Argent and Azure, a cubit arm vested and gauntleted in armor Sable grasping an arrow of the like armed and flitted Gules and a bold of the first hilted Or.

Shield

The shield is blue for Infantry. The gallant service in Cuba is represented by the blockhouse at El Caney and the royal palm from the coat of arms of that Republic.

Crest

The Regiment saw Indian service in the old frontier days and this is symbolized by the arrow of the crest. Likewise the Philippine campaigns are indicated by the bolo. The steadfastness of the Regiment is indicated by the iron gauntlet.

Background
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 25th Infantry Regiment on 30 December 1921. It was redesignated for the 25th Armored Infantry Battalion on 11 May 1951.
